I have been looking into an elective at Groote Schuur. The website www.trauma.org has a list of contacts for electives, of which Groote Schuur is one. I emailed the lady yesterday, but am yet to hear back.

Regards,

Jordan.

I highly recommend spending some time in Cape Town/at Grotties. The trauma at Grotties is through the roof -- you'll see things that you will likely never see in an entire life of medicine in Canada -- and Cape Town itself is a fantastic place to live.

Just a comment here that although Obs (Observatory) is close to Grotties, it's a bit of a dodgy area and the public transit in Cape Town (mini-bus taxis) can be more than a little frightening. You will want to rent a car to avoid relying on the mini-bus taxis, so why not also live in a nicer neighbourhood? After-all, the exchange rate of just about any currency against the Rand means that you can really live quite well, even as a student.
